Call for seismic safety awareness

Home Secretary Bal Krishna Khand today spoke of the need to raise earthquake safety awareness every day rather than just once a year.

At the meeting of the 24th National Earthquake Safety Day Main Organizing Committee at the Home Office today, Minister Khand affirmed that it is everyone’s responsibility to protect the life of citizens against natural disasters.

Khand said, “Nepal is ranked 11th in terms of global earthquake risk. The Gorkha earthquake caused enormous loss of life and property.

He alerted everyone.

The post-earthquake reconstruction process is still ongoing. “

The 24th National Earthquake Day will be observed on January 16, 2022 at Patan Durbar Square, Lalitpur.

The government observed the National Earthquake Safety Day every year on the 2nd Magh of the Nepalese month in memory of the 1934 earthquake in order to publicize the methods of earthquake safety.

The minister insisted that the code of conduct relating to construction put in place to minimize the damage of the earthquake be respected. “Instead,” he added, “every citizen should learn to save themselves during the earthquake”.
